Dice
Quote from BigT on 2021-03-16, 7:51 pmNot all dice are created equal. I love Amazon, but unfortunately there seems to be no third party seller, or Amazon themselves, selling the same dice you find in the casino. I have had success ordering from Midwest Game Supply. They don’t process orders online, so you will need to call 816-628-2299 to place an order. When we first started, I placed an order on Amazon from a 3rd party seller, but the dice felt light as soon as I picked them up. I immediately knew there was something wrong and started searching around. Found similar complaints from others and came accross Midwest Game Supply as a recommendation from Bone Thrower, gave them a call and placed an order. We also bought some “retired” casino dice to practice with. When taking the “retired” dice from our local casino and weighing them, they are identical to the dice we picked up from Midwest Game Supply. I have recently gotten a recommendation for http://www.casino4you.com as a legitimate source of dice and have placed an order with them. Once I get them, I’ll do all of the measurements and update you all. It was a little easier going through them since you can just place the order online at your convenience as opposed to calling during normal business hours and processing an order over the phone. Anyone else have recommendations on where to get legit dice? Any interest in placing a bulk order to reduce the overall cost and spread the savings across everyone in the order?

Quote from BigT on 2021-03-16, 8:12 pmWell folks, turns out the dice from casino4you were not consistent with what I had expected. We have dice from a Paris gift shop in Vegas, the River City gift shop in St. Louis (with holes drilled all the way through) and several sets of dice from Midwest Game Supply. The dice from both River City and Paris gift shops (I am 100% sure the dice from River City were actual dice used on the table) have weights that are very close to Midwest Game Supply. The dice I bought from Amazon a while back, and recently from Casino4you are significantly lighter.
Casino4you weight (red) - 17.65 grams for a pair.
Casino4you weight (blue) - 17.37 grams for a pair.
Midwest Game Supply (with logo) - 19.20 grams for a pair.
Paris cancelled dice - 19.08 grams for a pair
River City cancelled dice (hole drilled all the way through) - 18.29 grams for a pair
Obviously not 100% scientific, but I definitely think the hole drilled all the way through the River City dice, and the cancelled Paris dice are much closer in weight to the dice obtained from Midwest Game Supply than those from Casino4You. In addition to weighing these on a good quality scale, YOU CAN FEEL THE DIFFERENCE!!!

Quote from Samebet777 on 2021-03-17, 9:50 amI know of 7 people that purchase bulk from Midwest and are selling, or soon will be selling to the public.
- "Heavy" Steve Haltom from Axis Power Craps
- Howard "Rock N Roller" Newman
- Beau Parker - The Dice Coach
- the Bone Thrower
- Hawaiian Craps Shooters (soon to sell to the public)
- Color Up
- Craps Nation (Sleepy2525)
All are branded to promote their business or Youtube channel, but they all do come from Midwest and sell for about the same amount of money. I've personally purchased from all of them except Hawaii Craps and Color Up, but have personal relationships with both of them and wouldn't hesitate to buy from them.
I'm also very good friends with Sleepy2525, so I give him all my business, but he doesn't order a lot, so it can take a couple of months for the next shipment to arrive.

Quote from JJB on 2022-04-12, 12:36 pmI agree with these posts. I've purchased from all parties listed above and have a few comments. For look, feel and weight, Midwest is the closest to accurate casino dice. The only thing I don't like about them is they seem to wear out a lot more quickly than the casino seconds I purchase at my local casino. I've weighed them and Midwest, My local casino, Bellagio and a bunch of other Vegas casinos were all within .1 of a gram. I know using casino seconds is poo pooed upon, but this casino barely makes a tiny stamp in the side so for the money (use my casino points to buy) they work very well. So I'm with you, the casino supply dice were definetly lighter by about .3 grams, but they actually last a long time and measurements are accurate with the micrometer.

I personally don't think there is anything wrong with using casino seconds. I have an old set from Paris, when I weighed those (looks like I didnt take a pic and post them above) they were nearly exact to Midwest Gaming Supply dice. They had a tiny mark on one side from their stamp, but thats it. I'd use those all day long to practice. Problem with my local casino is, they drill a hole all the way through, so the dice are basically useless.
